Off-roading  Ride + Trek + Camp  At  Rajmachi

Ride / drive on the long 14 km off - road stretch from Lonavala to Rajmachi, spend the evening by the lake, trek up to the fort, enjoy piping hot, home-made dinner and stay in tents under the open, starry sky on the Rajmachi Plateau.. Not to mention, get away from the crowds and noise of Mumbai..

Detailed Itinerary: Saturday, 5th December, 2015

 

• Meet at Shree Dutta snacks at Panvel at 13:00 hrs.

• Introductions and instructions (~0.25hrs)

• Have breakfast and Start the Ride / Drive towards Lonavala via Old Mumbai Punee highway

• Reach Khopoli - 10 Minute Halt @ Khopoli just before the ghats begin & then ride non-stop to Khandala

• Washroom Break @ Kamat Hotel (Khandala) at 15:00 hrs

 

** This will be the meeting point for people joining from Pune or locations other than Mumbai or for those running late.

 

• Start the ride towards Rajmachi village by 15:30 hrs

• Reach the village, have refreshments and relax

• Set up camp, enjoy the sunset (and perhaps a bonfire) and head to dinner

• Post dinner, a short night trail

• Lights out by 11 p.m. and we snuggle into the sleeping bags and enjoy sleeping under the open sky and stars (in a tent)

 

Day 2 : Sunday, 6th December 2015

• Wake up early to a beautiful sunrise

• Wind up camp and head to the village for breakfast

• After breakfast start return off-roading journey to Khandala. Target departure time would be 10.00hrs

 

 

 Important Notes:

 

• Wearing full clothes (Track pants + Full sleeve Shirt/Tshirt) is advisable – Prevents cuts & bruises while walking through the forest & also protects from insect bites.

• Track pants advisable – Jeans can get uncomfortable on treks & also tend to soak & retain water if it rains, avoid as far as possible

• Trekking/Sports shoes advisable – Covered feet provide safety from stubbing your toes on rocks, etc and also from insect/snake bite.

• Extra Floaters/Footwear advisable – for ease of moving around campsite.

• A sturdy & comfortable haversack advisable – To stock all the gear & keep hands free while hiking.

• A good torch is compulsory – since campsite will have no lighting or electricity

• 2 liters of water handy at camp is compulsory

• Additionally pack a sleeping mat, sleeping bag (if reqd inside the tent), spare set of change of clothes and insect repellent!

 

• To ensure that guests can make the most of the Serene & Peaceful location, No Speakers/Music from Phone at Loud volume would be permitted

• A Guitar/Flute/Or any other musical instrument is however most welcome 

• Closed Toilet/Bathroom facility is NOT available at the campsite but is available at the village

• The lights out time needs to be honored & Guests wanting to sit up late & chat need to move away from the sleeping area

 

 

Our Belief System:

 

• Possession and/or consumption of Alcohol will not be permitted & flouting of this basic rule will lead to immediate expulsion from the group.

• Smoking will only be permitted after consultation with the Leader and the person will have to move away from the group to smoke. Smoking will only be permitted while we stop at a clearing and not otherwise.

• The leader’s decision will be final and binding on all members. No Arguments will be entertained.

• Each member will be responsible for his/her own safety and baggage.

• Please do not wear any jewelry or gold chains/rings.

• Please do not litter, we believe in the saying, “Leave only footprints, Take back only memories”
