WALK IN THE WILDERNESS - TREK TO KALAVANTIN

Hiking/Trekking in the Sahyadris with its multitude of forts perched atop hill/mountain top is an adventure that needs no special mention.

The experience of climbing atop one such fort/watch tower which is precariously perched on a tall & conical hill very close to Mumbai would be one that we will embark on together!

Join Canvas N Chrome as we take you on a thrilling adventure of ascending/descending beautiful rock-cut steps to Kalavantin Fort near Panvel.

   Trek from Panvel

  • Bus from Panvel to Base Village (~0.75hrs)

  • Introductions & Instructions

  • Hike to Kalavantin Fort (2.0hrs)

  • Enjoy the panoramic view of the surrounding region & descend back down to village

  • Tentative time back at Panvel would be 6.00PM

 Important Notes:

  • The trek is graded as Medium because of the steep flight of stairs used to ascend to the top of the fort; The endurance grade is medium as it takes a good 2 hours to get on top

  • The initial part of the hike passes through shrubs & bushes & is a well marked trail. The trail becomes confusing after crossing the plateau with Kalavantin to the left & Prabhalgad to the right. All guests are advised to stick together till they reach the Col between the 2 forts.

  • The steep & thrilling section of steps starts after reaching the Col. The final ascend to the fort requires scaling a small & easy rock patch.

  • Kalavantin is buffeted generally by strong winds during the monsoon season; It is strongly advised to stay away from Ledges & Edges for safety.

  • Full Clothes (Track Pants & Full Sleeve T-Shirts) are advised to prevent cuts/bruises during the hike & also protects the skin from insects.

  • Shoes are advised as it is better to have completely covered feet. Extra Floaters or Chappals would be a good idea as sports shoes tend to give away (Open up) during monsoon treks.

  • Caps/Hats advised to factor for sunny weather.

  • All belongings should be carried in a Rucksack & should be packed in Polythene to prevent it from getting wet in the rain.

  • 2 Liters of Water is compulsory as there is No water source available during the trek.

  • Lunch for the day needs to be carried from Home.

  • Extra Clothes would come in handy to change into post trek.

  • Please Note: There is no washroom/changing facility available on the trek.
