Mountain passes have been in use since many centuries by traders & shepherds alike and connect different villages & regions together - One such pass is Hampta pass which connects the Kullu valley with Lahaul valley in Himachal Pradesh.
The trek can be best described as a mixed bag as it allows one to experience the stark difference with the gorgeous green meadows of the Kullu valley & the stunning barren browns of the Lahaul/Spiti valley. The easy to moderate grade of the trek makes it the ideal choice for first timers as well as experienced trekkers to come along and take in the beauty of the majestic mountains.

And keeping with the tradition of 'The Best for Last' - the visit to Chandratal lake with an option to take in the full beauty of the lake in the almost full moonlight will be an experience to remember.
Detailed Itinerary:
Sunday, 1st October: Reporting Day @ Manali - 10.00hrs

Manali - Prini - Jobra - Chika
We expect all our guests to report to Manali Bus Stand by 10,00hrs on this day and we would recommend that you get in touch with us for assistance to plan your travel to Manali in order to reach in time.
After proceeding towards Pirini road head around 4kms from Manali, we then drive down to Jobra. Our hike starts from here and we will camp at the first suitable meadow after trekking for a few kms or around 3 hours
Monday, 2nd October: Chika to Balu ka Ghera
An good 7 hour trek through meadows, rocky terrain with a rivulet & multiple waterfalls for company is what this day entails. The hike will take us above the tree line & lets us enjoy the first close views of the snow capped mountains. The trek with multiple breaks to enjoy the landscape would be the order of the day.
Tuesday, 3rd October: Balu ka Ghera to Hampta Pass & Descend to Shea Goru
The most challenging day of the trek; our day begins with trudging towards Hampta pass at an altitude of 14,035ft. The hike will see a gradual to moderate gradients via meadows & boulders till the pass followed by a steep descend on scree into the barren yet beautiful Lahaul valley.
Enjoy the experience of being at the Top of Hampta pass and if the weather is just right then maybe even enjoy packed lunch atop the pass before beginning the steep descend down towards the meadow of Shea Goru

Wednesday, 4th October: Shea Goru to Chattru road head (Optional Trip to Chandratal Lake)
The last day of the trek takes you down the River/Glacial route to the road head of Chattru which connects Spiti valley with Lahaul valley. Enjoy the view of the Rugged and Barren Spiti/Lahaul valley and take in the last day of trekking.
On getting down to Chattru, we drive down towards the beautiful & sought after Chandratal lake & Camp there if the conditions are right else head back to Chattru.
Note: Camping is only permitted in a designated area about 30 minutes hike away from the lake. If we can camp here, we can spend time post sundown to enjoy the beauty of the reflection of the moon (6th October is Full Moon) on the Moon Lake!
Thursday, 5th October: Chandratal/Chattru to Manali
Enjoy the road trip through multiple river crossings and bad roads before climbing up the misty and gorgeous Rhotang Pass and descending down into Manali.
Our expected time of reaching Manali would be by late afternoon 16.00hrs & it is possible to exit out from Manali on this day itself. However we would recommend that you use this day to unwind in Manali or try out a homestay experience in the quaint little town of Jagatsukh to take in the local customs and culture.
This also lets you factor for any delay during the long journey from Chandratal/Chattru to Manali
