WALK IN THE WILDERNESS - TREK TO KAMANDURG

A challenging trek that allows one the experience of trekking up through a bamboo forest and at the same time scaling up a couple of thrilling rock patches - Kamandurg, located close to Vasai is an ideal off-beat and unheard of trekking destination.

 

Join  Canvas N Chrome and take in the commanding view of the Mumbai - Ahmedabad highway alongwith the creek waters of Vasai for this thrilling weekend activity!

 

 

 

Detailed Itinerary: Sunday, 19th July 2015

 

  • Buy return tickets for Vasai Road

  • Meet at the ST depot just outside Vasai Road station at 06:45 hrs.

  • Board an ST Bus from outside Vasai Road station East for Kaman village

  • If ST Bus is not available, we will take a bus for Chinchoti Naka & take a Share Rickshaw from there to Kaman Village

  • For those who want to Ride/Drive down to Kaman village, get in touch with us for directions

  • Meet up at Kaman village entrance 

  • Introductions & Instructions

  • Hike to Kamandurg Fort (2.0hrs)

  • Enjoy the panoramic view of the surrounding region & descend back down

  • Tentative time back at Kaman would be 4.00PM

  • Board the evening Fast Local for Mumbai

 

 

 Important Notes:

 

  • The trek is graded as Medium because of small patch of Rock climbing to ascend to the top of the fort; The endurance grade is medium as it takes a good 2 hours to get on top.

  • Insects repellent is compulsory

  • Wearing full clothes (Track pants + Full sleeve Shirt/Tshirt) is advisable – Prevents cuts & bruises while walking through the forest & also protects from insect bites.

  • Track pants advisable – Jeans can get uncomfortable on treks & also tend to soak & retain water if it rains, avoid as far as possible

  • Trekking/Sports shoes advisable – Covered feet provide safety from stubbing your toes on rocks, etc and also from insect/snake bite.

  • Extra Floaters/Footwear advisable – Sports shoes tend to open up/tear during treks through rain & having an extra pair of floaters helps.

  • Caps/Hats advised to factor for sunny weather

  • A sturdy & comfortable haversack advisable – To stock all the gear & keep hands free while hiking.

  • Packing of all essentials in polythene advisable – To protect from getting wet in the rain.

  • A good torch is compulsory – In case of Emergency

  • 3 liters of water is compulsory – No water source available en route.

  • Do not forget to Pack Breakfast as well as Lunch for the Trek!

  • Extra Clothes would come in handy to change into post trek.

  • Please Note: There is no washroom/changing facility available on the trek.

 

 

Our Belief System:

 

  • Possession and/or consumption of Alcohol will not be permitted & flouting of this basic rule will lead to immediate expulsion from the group.

  • Smoking will only be permitted after consultation with the Leader and the person will have to move away from the group to smoke. Smoking will only be permitted while we stop at a clearing and not otherwise.

  • The leader’s decision will be final and binding on all members. No Arguments will be entertained.

  • Each member will be responsible for his/her own safety and baggage.

  • Please do not wear any jewelry or gold chains/rings.

  • Please do not litter, we believe in the saying, “Leave only footprints, Take back only memories”
