Canvas N Chrome

The small window in time just before the rains arrive gives us the opportunity to witness a beautiful spectacle of dazzling fireflies. It’s the mating season for these fireflies & as a result thousands of them light up around trees and shrubs making it a rare and beautiful sight.

 

Join  Canvas N Chrome as we hike up to Prabalmachi to try and capture this scene in our mind and camera if possible. This is a kid-friendly event so bring along the little ones to enjoy the rustic experience of camping and the wonder of fireflies.

Detailed Itinerary:

Saturday, 16th June 2018

​

• Board Panvel local on harbour route from CST (2:12 p.m.) / Wadala (2:30 p.m.) / Kurla (2:41 p.m.) / Vashi (3 p.m.) and meet at Panvel station at 3:30 p.m.

• Transfer to base village by autorickshaw

• Instructions & Safety Briefing (~0.5hrs)

• Trek/Hike to Prabalmachi village (~2.0 - 2.5 hrs)

• Take in the beauty of the route

• Refreshments, Dinner, & Rest on reaching Prabalmachi

• Night Trail to view fireflies spectacle (~1.0hrs)

• Overnight at homestay

Sunday, 17th June 2018 

 

• Morning bell would be sounded at 07.00hrs 

• Refreshments & Breakfast at village (~1.5 hrs)

• Hike back down to Base (~1.5 - 2.0 hrs)

• Rickshaw to Panvel station (~0.75hrs)

• Tentative arrival at Panvel – 12.00hrs

• Trip ends

 Important Notes:

 

• The Hike/Trek is graded as Easy because of an easy trail which leads up to the village; Endurance grade is Easy as it takes not more than 1.0hrs to get to the village.

• Wearing full clothes (Track pants + Full sleeve Shirt/Tshirt) is advisable – Prevents cuts & bruises while walking through the forest & also protects from insect bites.

• Track pants advisable – Jeans can get uncomfortable on treks & also tend to soak & retain water if it rains, avoid as far as possible

• Trekking/Sports shoes advisable – Covered feet provide safety from stubbing your toes on rocks, etc and also from insect/snake bite.

• Extra Floaters/Footwear advisable – Sports shoes tend to open up/tear during treks through rain & having an extra pair of floaters helps.

• A sturdy & comfortable haversack advisable – To stock all the gear & keep hands free while hiking.

• Packing of all essentials in polythene advisable – To protect from getting wet in the rain.

• A good torch is compulsory – for the night trek

• 2 liters of water is compulsory.

 

Our Belief System:

 

• Possession and/or consumption of Alcohol will not be permitted & flouting of this basic rule will lead to immediate expulsion from the group.

• Smoking will only be permitted after consultation with the Leader and the person will have to move away from the group to smoke. Smoking will only be permitted while we stop at a clearing and not otherwise.

• The leader’s decision will be final and binding on all members. No Arguments will be entertained.

• Each member will be responsible for his/her own safety and baggage.

• Please do not wear any jewelry or gold chains/rings.

• Please do not litter, we believe in the saying, “Leave only footprints, Take back only memories”
